Chuck Jones Big Draw Visits Planet X

Chuck Jones Big Draw!

  A “Space”tacular FUNdraiser for Creativity

Benefitting the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity

Costa Mesa, CA: “It looks like you’re having fun,” was one of the highest compliments given by famed artist, author, and educator, Don Graham, to his students when the work they were doing showed promise. Having fun is an important part of creative endeavors at the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity. Chuck Jones Big Draw, a FUNdraiser for Creativity—will benefit the programs of the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, a 501(c)3 public charity,” says Craig Kausen, Chairman of the Board and grandson of Chuck Jones, “the Center serves school-age children, senior brain health, and children and young adults on the autism spectrum.”

A carnival atmosphere focused on Outer Space Exploration and Planet X will pervade this family-friendly event where you and your children will be able to participate in creativity stations throughout the 4000 square foot Center. You’ll create rocket banks, build your own space ship and space helmet, design and make Planet X creatures and origami asteroids, toy-making, animation light-table drawing, and a stop-motion animation station where you’ll be able to make your own cartoon using some of Chuck Jones’s favorite characters like Marvin the Martian, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and 10,000 Martians.

Chuck Jones Big Draw, a FUNdraiser for Creativity, will be open from 1 to 4 PM on Sunday, October 13 at the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, 3321 Hyland Ave., Suite A & B, Costa Mesa, Ca. Tickets are $5 per person, and will include a “Mix-Your-Own-Soft-Drink bar, fresh Popcorn, and a Decorate-Your-Own-Brownie station. Tickets available at ChuckJonesBigDraw.org.

What Does Fun Look Like? Artist Mary Beth Volpini Has the Answer!

Artist and noted interior designer, Mary Beth Volpini, will be asking you that question at the Chuck Jones Big Draw on Sunday, August 7th from 11 AM to 5 PM at SoCo (South Coast Collection), 3303 Hyland Avenue, Costa Mesa, California.  A graduate of Parsons the New School for Design in New York City, Mary Beth has been creating art and designing homes in both California and New York for the last several years.  While fighting breast cancer in 2006, she was able to rediscover her love of painting and mixed media collage and will be sharing that love at the Chuck Jones Big Draw.  Start thinking about what your answer will be when she greets you this coming Sunday.  Be there or be square!

Don't forget we're looking to break the Guinness World Record for the largest art class held in one venue which begins promptly at 2 PM–everyone will be learning how to draw Bugs Bunny!
