An Actor Prepares: Consultant Erin Puts Her Game Face On!

Just minutes before the doors opened this evening for the Stan Lee reception at the Chuck Jones Gallery, we found Erin, one of the intrepid art consultants at our next door neighbor, MAC cosmetics, having a quick touch-up to her beautiful face (she is, after all, a former Rose Parade Queen.)  

Stop by and meet Erin and our other knowledgeable staff during Comic Con and tell them that "Chuck Redux" sent you!  More on the show tomorrow plus details about the Bill Plympton event scheduled for Friday evening from 7 to 10 P.M.!!

Katy and Carla, Chuck Jones Gallery art consultants, took a quick break from assisting convention-goers at the Chuck Jones Gallery booth (#1134) at Comic Con 2010 to send in this snapshot.  They report that record-setting attendance has the aisles packed with fangirls and -boys loading up on incredible artwork and collectibles.  Pictured behind them are beautiful limited edition lithographs by John Alvin, America's most important cinema campaign artist of the past 40 years. 

Whether you're in aisle 800 or 5500 at the Convention Center in San Diego, please make a point of stopping by booth 1134 to say hello and introduce yourself.  There are many exclusive offerings just for you during Comic Con. 

Remember tonight, you can meet Stan Lee and Anthony Winn at our gallery at 232 Fifth Avenue (just 1/2 block north of the convention center) beginning at 6 P.M.  And before I forget: this evening Miss International Pole Dancer 2009, the beautiful and talented, Felix Cane, will perform in our gallery promptly at 8:30 P.M.  You won't want to miss that!

Here's Stan Lee signing one of the newest editions featuring his creation "Stripperella."  This artwork will be featured tonight at the Stan Lee/Anthony Winn reception at the Chuck Jones Gallery, 232 Fifth Avenue, just 1/2 block north of the convention center, the event starts at 6 P.M.

It’s true!  During this very special week of Comic Con International in San Diego, at your Chuck Jones Gallery (232 Fifth Avenue, just 1/2 block north of the convention center), on Thursday, July 22nd from 6 to 9 PM we are hosting a reception for the irrepressible and irreverent comics master, Stan Lee.  Lee, along with his protege and collaborator, Anthony Winn, will be our special guests that night.  And as a special treat, one of their muses, Felix Cane, Ms. International Pole Dancer 2009 and star of Cirque de Soleil’s Zumanity will perform.  Here’s a little clip of what you can expect that evening:

Chuck Jones Gallery, 232 Fifth Avenue, in the heart of San Diego’s historic
Gaslamp District announced today their slate of artist receptions and events to
be held during the 2010 Comic-Con International, July 22-25.    


Thursday, July 22nd:   Stripperella
Saves the World!
  From 6 to 9 PM,
meet the two artists responsible for the world’s most super-talented stripper,
the incomparable Stan Lee (Spiderman, X-Men) and his talented protégé, Anthony
Winn (Stripperella.)  The gallery will be
premiering original art from these masters of the comic medium as well as
limited editions and sculpture.

To cap off the evening, Felix Cane, the reigning Miss World Pole
Dancer 2009, will perform her amazing routine in the gallery.  Fresh off her starring turn in Cirque de
Zumanity, Ms. Cane will
astound you with her vivacious originality and sensuous execution.

, from 7 to 10 PM meet two-time Academy Award-nominee and
animation legend, Bill Plympton.  Known
for his wry and wicked take on the world at large and humanity in particular,
Plympton has been wowing fans of animation for over 35 years with his
meticulously crafted hand-drawn animated films. 
With a new film due in theaters nationwide this September and a book
coming in Spring 2011 from Rizzoli, Bill Plympton is at the height of his
game.  On exhibit will be original
production art (all hand-drawn by Plympton) from many of his most beloved
animated films.

our special guest Saturday evening from 7 to 8:30 PM premiering his two new
works for Marvel, “Iron Man” and “Black Widow” in his trademark Art Deco-styling.  These superb new works of art will be on
display and for sale at this event.  Mr.
Kungl will be dedicating artwork purchased during the show.

Chuck Jones at the Get Animated! Pavilion

This year, the amazing folks at Stage Nine Entertainment in Sacramento have created the most awesome pavilion at the California State Fair: Get Animated!  Working with studios and non-profits to bring together an incredible display that chronicles animation from its earliest days in the 20th century up to work being created today. 

The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity is pleased to have partnered with Stage Nine and have loaned artwork and ephemera from the archives to them for this very special exhibit.  The California State Fair in Sacramento opened Wednesday and runs through August 1st.  Add it to your travel plans and make sure to visit the Get Animated! pavilion.
