Costa Mesa, CA: The Chuck Jones Gallery, located in SoCo (South Coast Collection), the lively new dining and shopping destination in central Orange County, announced today that artist Cory Bennett will be their guest at a reception for the opening of an exhibition of his most recent paintings and prints on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM. The event is free and open to the public.

Bennett is known for his urban aesthetic, bold palette and layered imagery, all of which is fueled by his imaginative take on the street scene in southern California. Making his home in Long Beach, Bennett’s paintings combine a rich aesthetic with the graphic language of found materials through which he discovers the natural beauty of his subject matter.

“We are excited to present Cory’s work to our collectors and the art marketplace in general,” said gallery director, Scott Dicken. “His unique vision and exuberant execution makes his work at once thrilling, beautiful, and slightly dangerous, a potent combination of visual legerdemain.” This will be Bennett’s first gallery exhibition in Orange County.

The Chuck Jones Gallery was founded in 1991 in Corona del Mar and through the years has been located in Laguna Beach and Orange as well.  It is the only gallery in Orange County devoted to the art of the animated film, particularly the work of four-time Academy Award-winning animation director and pioneer, Chuck Jones. Along with the art of its namesake, the gallery represents work from all major animation studios as well as the art of Dr. Seuss, Marcus Pierson, Mike Kungl, Bob Elias, and Mike Peraza.  It is open seven days a week from 10 to 6:30 except for Sunday when the gallery closes at 5PM. It shares the space at SoCo with the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, a 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to reinvigorating the creative spirit in all of us, but particularly in children.
