Poor Marc Antony. All ferocious jowls and growls, and yet the softest heart in the house. Feed the Kitty* premiered in theaters on February 2, 1952. Interestingly, the characters for this cartoon started taking shape in 1950 (on dated model drawings,) considerably in advance of the actual production of the film. This layout drawing by Chuck Jones is one of hundreds he created for each and every film he directed; each drawing a character guide for the animators.
*Little known fact: Actress Bea Benaderet (Petticoat Junction) was the voice of Marc Antony's mistress.
Chuck’s expressions for Mark Antony in this cartoon showcase his creative brilliance.
